Tesco Ireland has announced that the latest round of donations from its Community Fund will be shared among community groups supporting diversity and inclusion across Ireland, with €6,500 to be split among nine causes in Limerick.
The Tesco stores in Coonagh, Shannon Banks, Arthurs Quay, Roxboro, Dooradoyle and Newcastle West raised over €1,800 from the Community Fund for the Limerick Pride Festival.
GOSHH and Adapt Domestic Abuse Services are among the groups in Limerick which will receive donations from local stores in the latest round of funding.
Lisa Daly, Chairperson Limerick Pride Festival said, “We are so grateful to the Tesco Community Fund for raising these invaluable funds which will go towards running the Limerick Pride Festival in 2022. Right now, many of our LGBTQ community organisations are struggling; demand for their services has increased but at the same time opportunities to raise funds by running Pride events or even simple bucket collections are no longer possible.
We know that next year, our Parade and Festival will be back, even bigger and on the streets of Limerick, but we need to make sure that no one gets left behind. When we come back, we come back together. Thanks so much Tesco for your support of Limerick Pride.”
Commenting on the latest round of donations, Rosemary Garth, Communications Director, Tesco Ireland said, “We are delighted to announce details of the latest Community Fund project which has allowed Tesco Ireland to help local causes in support of diversity and inclusion across the country. We are delighted this Community Fund will help to support GOSHH, Adapt Domestic Abuse Services and Limerick Pride Festival in Limerick.”
The drive for diversity and inclusion is a huge part of Tesco’s identity as a company and Pride is an excellent celebration of this. The vibrant and fun festival has become hugely important to colleagues and communities.
In January 2021, Tesco announced that its Community Fund had reached a milestone of €5 million in donations to local communities across Ireland since its establishment.
