Limerick Printmakers Plan A Plan B box set project is a collaborative body of work created by current Limerick Printmakers (LP) studio members and supporters as part of their National City of Culture funding programme in 2014.

Suzannah O’ Reilly; artist, LP board member; and co-ordinator of the project invited twenty artists to create both an individual print (Plan A) alongside a collaborative work made in conjunction with another designated member of the group (Plan B).

The project has already been exhibited in Limerick and Tipperary to great acclaim and has been invited to feature at Impact 9 (‘International Multi-disciplinary Printmaking, Artists, Concepts and Techniques’) Conference in China in September 2015.

Plan A and Plan B project has also been recognised by The Office of Public Works (OPW) who have acquired a complete edition of the project for inclusion in The State Art Collection, having viewed it in the Main Guard, Clonmel as part of the Junction Festival.

The artists included in this project are Eoin Barry, David Bowe, Mike Byrne, Alan Crowley, Gemma Dardis, Pamela Dunne, Niamh Fahy, Brian Fitzgerald, Pat Fitzpatrick, Deirdre Gallagher, Clare Gilmour, Gavin Hogg, David Lilburn, Des MacMahon, Mary O’ Dea, Suzannah O’ Reilly, Derek O’ Sullivan, Clodagh Twomey,  Isabella Walsh & Fiona Quill.

Inspired by the inventive outcome of previous collaborative opportunities engaged in locally and internationally, O’ Reilly was convinced “of the great advantages to be gained in working with (other) artists….to the benefit of the artists themselves and their audiences.”

Such a project demands of the artist “an open mind, a willingness to listen and often to step outside of one’s comfort zone in order to examine and explore our own work practice”.
With this understanding in place, the possibilities are genuinely limitless.

The range of work developed in response to these conditions reinforces the breadth of printmaking techniques and processes available to aid the artists in realising their vision, both singularly and jointly held.

Limerick Printmakers would like to acknowledge Suzannah O’ Reilly’s vital role in co-ordinating this project and curating Plan A & Plan B exhibition that has to date taken place in the Limerick City Gallery of Art, April 2015, and is presently in the Main Guard, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary as part of the Junction Festival, the exhibition runs until Thursday 30th July 2015.

Limerick Printmakers Studio & Gallery acknowledges the financial support of the Arts Council, Fás, Limerick City Council and the Department of Tourism, Culture and Sport.
