Libraries invite you to join community reading initiative Limerick Reads

Libraries invite you to join community reading initiative Limerick Reads

Limerick Reads is a countywide community reading initiative promoted by Limerick Libraries. The programme aims to celebrate books and reading in Limerick communities as well as promote amazing Limerick authors. 

Six books have been selected for participants to read, featuring titles from Kevin Barry, Helena Close, Judi Curtin, Padraig Kenny, Roisin Meaney and Donal Ryan.

Those interested can become Limerick Reads ambassadors by picking up limited ambassador packs, including copies of all six titles, a reading guide, bookmarks and stickers, all free of charge. 

These special packs will be available from Adare Library, Abbeyfeale Library, Dooradoyle Library, Kilmallock Library, Newcastle West Library, and Watch House Cross Community Library. Readers can also borrow the titles from participating libraries.

The six books will also be available to download from the Limerick City and County Library page of the ‘Borrowbox’ app.

Limerick Libraries Senior Executive Librarian, Noreen O’Neill, says of the initiative; “This is a great opportunity to enjoy fantastic stories by Limerick writers. There is a Limerick Reads story here for absolutely everyone. We at Limerick Libraries want to share that enjoyment as widely as possible.” 

Readers are encouraged to follow the hashtag #LimerickReads and Limerick Libraries social media channels to keep up to date with all the latest news about the project. The service also plans to host several author events during Autumn-Winter 2021.

Kevin Barry – That Old Country Music

Helena Close – The Gone Book

Judi Curtin – Lily Steps Up

Padraig Kenny – The Monsters of Rookhaven

Roisin Meaney – The Restaurant

Donal Ryan – Strange Flowers
