Ladies from across Limerick City and County toured around the Treaty City and county for the annual Limerick Rose of Tralee Tour, ahead of Selection Night at Bunratty Castle Hotel on April 15. Kicking off from the George Boutique Hotel, they travelled to the home of Munster Rugby Thomond Park followed by a visit to our beloved King Johns Castle.

The group was then welcomed by the Limerick Rose charity partner for 2017, Pieta House, the suicide prevention organisation in Mungret and informed of the fantastic services which the charity provide across Ireland. All the Roses signed up for the annual Pieta House Darkness into Light event.

Departing Pieta House, the Roses were treated to a fantastic lunch of a fusion of Italian Cuisine in the George Boutique Hotel. The Roses then continued onto House Limerick to experience their weekly Jazz Brunch, where they were treated to champagne.

Bunratty Castle was the penultimate stop on the tour finishing in The Locke Bar for some Traditional Irish Music.

The 2016 Limerick Rose, Marie Hennessey, from Rooska, Athea, joined the ladies on the Limerick Rose 2017 Whistle Stop Tour. Marie was announced as the Limerick Rose at the 2016 Limerick Rose Selection at the Bunratty Castle Hotel which took place on Saturday, March 262016. Last year’s Whistle Stop Tour visited local attractions such as Limerick’s Milk Market, Thomond Park, Bunratty Castle Hotel, The George Boutique Hotel for lunch, Pieta House, King John’s Castle and Fun World – Bowling. On the 2016 Whistle Stop Tour, the Roses also attended a night at the Limerick Greyhound Stadium.

Conor Walsh Limerick Rose Coordinator commented, “The tour gave them a fantastic opportunity to bond as a group and make some great friends. In addition, there are a few places still available so get in contact today.” The Limerick Rose Centre also is extending an invite to all Roses and Escorts from previous years to come along to the Selection Night on April 15.

The Rose of Tralee International Festival will be taking place from Wednesday, August 16 to Tuesday, August 22 of 2017. It is one of Ireland’s largest and longest running festivals, and in 2017 will celebrate 58 years.

The show begins at 7pm and tickets are available for friends and supporters through any of the Roses.
