The Limerick Santa Cycle 2021 is back, taking place on Sunday, December 5, for the first time in two years.

This fun-filled and heartwarming event has been on the road since 2018, raising money for local charities each year. The cycle’s charity of choice this Christmas is Milford Care Centre.

Santa suits will be distributed at The Hurlers Pub on the Dublin Road, and cyclists are encouraged to decorate their bikes with as many lights as possible.

The procession will illuminate the gates of Milford Care Centre on their way to O’Connell Street in the city centre, before returning to The Hurlers Pub for refreshments.

There will be prizes for the most impressive Santa suit and the very brightest bike on the night. Santa Cyclists must be over 16 years of age.

This year, the charity event will be held in memory of Limerick man Alan Kavanagh who sadly passed away in 2020.

Organiser Ray O’Dell told I Love Limerick, “We are delighted to announce that the Santa Cycle will go ahead this year and that all funds raised will go to Milford Care Centre.”

“They do tremendous work for the people of the midwest and are a really worthy cause. The event will only take about an hour and I guarantee you will have a fun time!”

Milford Care Centre on Plassey Park Road is a non-profit organisation that provides palliative care in Limerick. Other services include a nursing home and bereavement support. The centre, which has touched the lives of many people in the midwest region, operates through donations and fundraising activities.
