Thousands of Limerick supporters packed out Pery Square for heroic Limerick senior Hurlers homecoming with the Liam MacCarthy Cup
Pery Square was rocking in Limerick City this Monday, July 20, when thousands of supporters came together for a hero’s welcome for the All-Ireland-winning senior hurlers and the Liam MacCarthy Cup.
Supporters were entertained with song and dance as they celebrated the achievements of both the senior and minor hurlers, and welcomed the senior cup back to Limerick for the first time in three years.
The hurlers and management were greeted by thousands at Colbert Station before a short bus trip brought them to the People’s Park, before they made their way to the stage in the city’s Georgian Quarter.

The team paid tribute to the supporters who have been behind them throughout the journey as they secured their incredible sixth All-Ireland title in nine seasons.
One of the loudest ovations of the evening came as captain Cian Lynch proudly raised the Liam MacCarthy Cup on stage, marking another unforgettable chapter in Limerick’s remarkable hurling story, which saw them win an amazing three titles in 2026 with the League Title, Munster Title, and the holy grail which is the Liam MacCarthy Cup.
On Sunday, thousands of supporters had gathered in the very same location for a live screening of the All-Ireland Final, creating a carnival atmosphere in the heart of Limerick as families, friends and visitors came together to cheer on the team for what Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, described as a “truly unforgettable few days for Limerick”.
Limerick manager, John Kiely, said it was “almost surreal” to be welcomed home in such an incredible way. He told I Love Limerick, “We’re over the moon! It’s almost surreal to listen to the music in the background knowing why we’re all here and that so many people would turn out for the team.
“I’m really, really grateful. I know the team and the boys are so grateful to the supporters who travelled to all our matches this year, but who have turned out again this evening in huge numbers to acknowledge their amazing achievement. So we’re very proud, very happy, and it would lift your soul.”
Speaking at the homecoming, William O’Donohue told I Love Limerick, “It’s about the memories people will make yesterday, today, and throughout the week.”
He said, “It’s great to be back in Limerick, looking forward to getting out to the homecoming, seeing so many young boys, girls, and parents.
“I think the big thing for us is when you win in All-Ireland, obviously there’s an immediate release on the pitch, but I think the memories it allows people to make.”
