The Festival is delighted to present The Real Group, a professional a cappella ensemble from Sweden, to open this year’s festival on Thursday 6 June in University Concert Hall. The Real Group is one of the leading forces in the world of vocal music today. Their combination of perfection, personal touch and wide repertoire have made it possible for the group to collaborate with symphony orchestras, jazz groups, pop bands and international artists throughout the world.

On Friday 7 June, the beautiful Redemptorist Church will host Choirs In Concert presented by RTE lyric fm’s Lorcan Murray. Local, national and international choirs will perform a diverse programme of sacred, traditional and folk songs including Mozart’s Requiem, Jenkins Adiemus together with songs by Bernstein, Strauss and many more.

Limerick Sings International Choral Festival 2019

Renowned Conductor and Composer Bob Chilcott is a special guest at the 2019 Limerick Sings Intl Choral Festival.

This year’s Festival Proms takes place in the picturesque village of Adare on the afternoon of Saturday 8th June when audiences can enjoy a light programme with everything from pop and musical theatre numbers to classical and traditional favourites.

Presented by RTE lyric fm’s Liz Nolan, the Closing Gala Concert of the 2019 Festival will feature performances by wonderful, youth choirs, together with visiting International Festival choirs, under the batons of Maire Keary Scanlon and Dr Cameron LaBarr.

As well as the four featured concerts, this year’s festival will also include a highly anticipated workshop with former King’s Singer Bob Chilcott, now one of the world’s most performed choral composers. The full-day workshop, open to singers of all abilities, takes place in University Concert Hall and participating singers can expect to be challenged, entertained and excited with new repertoire and the unbridled joy of singing together.

A free, fun Choral Trail in Limerick City and suburbs on Sunday 9 June and an Outdoor Chorus in the dramatic setting of King John’s Castle on the afternoon of Friday 7 June are other exciting elements of these four days of song in Limerick.

Performing choirs at this year’s festival include;

AOIDE (Limerick), Bolivar High School (Missouri), Cantette (Limerick), Dalkey Active Retirement Choir, East Clare Community Choir, The Gúnas (Clare), Hands in Harmony (Limerick), Kickpoo High School (Missouri), Limerick Choral Union, Milford N.S.(Limerick), Missouri State University Chamber Choir, Parteen N.S.
