Limerick third-level education institutes have joined together to launch a new promotional video celebrating the Limerick Student City Experience

Mary Immaculate College (MIC), in collaboration with Limerick City and County Council, University of Limerick (UL), Technological University of the Shannon (TUS), and Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board (LCETB), has launched a new promotional video celebrating Limerick as one of Ireland’s leading destinations for students.
The new Experience Limerick video forms part of the ongoing promotion of the Limerick Student City brand and highlights the city as a place that offers not only academic excellence but also a rich, dynamic and fulfilling student lifestyle. The video is being rolled out as part of a targeted CAO Deadline social media campaign throughout January, leading up to CAO Deadline on 1 February.
The new video captures the rhythm, pace and multifaceted nature of Limerick, celebrating the relationship between students and the city they come to love and call home. Featuring students from MIC, UL, TUS, and LCETB, the video follows them as they move from campus into the heart of the city, enjoying its cultural life, social scene, outdoor spaces and recreational opportunities.
Expanding on how education and place combine to shape the student journey in Limerick, Sinead Copeland, Deputy Director/Programme Marketing Manager from the MIC Strategic Communications and Marketing Office, said, “At MIC, state-of-the-art facilities and exceptional academic programmes are strengthened by everything Limerick offers as a vibrant student city. Our campus sits just minutes from a lively, welcoming city centre filled with culture, cafés, events, and creative energy, while peaceful parks and riverside walks provide room to relax and recharge. This combination ensures our students can thrive academically while enjoying an outstanding quality of life.”
Bernadette Cullen, Chief Executive of Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board, commented, “As a key partner in the delivery of tertiary education in the region, Limerick and Clare ETB is proud to stand alongside our higher education colleagues in the Limerick Student City campaign. This initiative is about showing students that there are many high-quality ways to learn, progress and succeed in Limerick. Through further education and training, we offer flexible and accessible pathways that are closely aligned to real career opportunities, while reinforcing Limerick as a welcoming city with a vibrant and supportive student life.”

The video is being rolled out as part of a targeted CAO Deadline social media campaign throughout January, leading up to CAO Deadline Day on 1 February 2026.
This collaborative campaign – unique in Ireland – comes as CAO demand continues to rise, with over 83,000 applications recorded in 2025 and numbers expected to exceed 90,000 in 2026. Limerick is well placed to meet this growing demand thanks to its strong highereducation ecosystem and extensive furthereducation, training and apprenticeship pathways.
Limerick is home to an estimated 50,000 students and learners, including approximately 34,000 thirdlevel students – up to 20% of whom are international, representing more than 100 countries – and a further 16,000 engaged in further education, apprenticeships and vocational training.
Sharon Kelly, Marketing Campaigns Officer with University of Limerick, said, “Thousands of students choose to study at University of Limerick’s award-winning campus each year, with students benefitting from world-class facilities that are complemented by the vibrancy of Limerick city. The city is an integral part of their student experience. From riverside walks and green spaces to music, sport and nightlife, students at UL are immersed in a city that encourages exploration, connection and balance alongside academic life.”
Ufuoma Stella Oyovwikefe, Digital Marketing Officer at the Technological University of the Shannon Global Office, said, “Limerick is a city that truly rewards curiosity. It is diverse, safe, and welcoming, a place where TUS offers students not only academic excellence and career support, but also a genuine sense of belonging. Students at our Limerick campuses benefit from hands-on learning during the day and a lively city experience beyond the classroom.”
The new video captures the rhythm and character of Limerick, following students from UL, TUS, MIC and LCETB as they move from campus life into the heart of the city, experiencing its cultural scene, social spaces, outdoor amenities and the sense of belonging that makes Limerick feel like home.
Mayor of Limerick, John Moran says the student population make an important contribution to Limerick, saying, “Limerick and Limerick’s tertiary education are inseparable in the minds of the public. Here once again, we see our Council and the institutions working closely together to position Limerick as the destination of choice for education.”
