Terra Nova is a densely planted award-winning kingdom of the little people set in the Golden Vale of Limerick.

Terra Nova Fairy Garden, winner of the Best Garden in Ireland, is a magical day out for families and gardeners alike located in Raymondstown, Dromin, Co. Limerick.

Terra Nova Garden is a dynamic space full of the unexpected. The gardens are home to an exotic Thai House with tropical plantings, a magical woodland where pixies, fairies, and other elementals live in shady places throughout the garden, a Hobbit Tea House based on Bilbo’s Bag End and Ireland’s Largest Fairy Gift shop.

These beautiful Gardens have been enthralling visitors for over twenty years, in its time it has also won Best Garden in Ireland. Terra Nova is one of Ireland’s best known small, privately owned gardens and is a firm favourite with garden visitors of all ages.

Originally a wet, boggy field full of horsetail and rushes it has been transformed beyond recognition and now features regularly in the media. Terra Nova is dynamic, a space that never stands still. Although it is, without a doubt, a plant lover’s garden it offers so much more.

There is a magic to the gardens, and everyone can feel it as soon as you cross the threshold. Some find it uplifting, others find it calming. It is a garden that must be experienced and cannot be explained. A happy garden that will make you smile.

The garden is situated in an area rich with history and folklore and there are many other places nearby to experience Ireland’s myths and magic including Ireland’s largest stone circle at Grange and nearby Lough Gur, a beautiful lake set amid a Neolithic settlement.

Behind their garden is a fairy fort that has been there for many thousands of years and an even older one once stood where their garden stands now. Many strange and wonderful things have happened there over the years and the fairies’ strong presence can be felt by many visitors.  

It also has the largest fairy gift shop and stocks the largest range of fairy houses, doors, and fairy garden accessories in the country.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, some things will have to be a bit different this year but they promise us all that it will still be a magical experience!

Suggested duration to spend there is 1-2 hours according to TripAdvisor with Caramel G, from Tripadvisor, wrote, “I visited this garden in glorious sunshine. It was a child’s paradise with fairy houses, toadstools, animals scattered around the garden. The path leads you from one delight to another. The plants were wonderful, varied, and beautifully looked after. The shop had so many beautiful things that it was hard to choose and not overpriced. Can’t wait to bring my grandchildren.”
