Open Call for Limerick Theatre Bursaries Awards Scheme Autumn 2021

Limerick City and County Council are pleased to announce an open call for the Limerick Theatre Bursaries Awards Scheme, in partnership with the Lime Tree Theatre | Belltable.

In 2021 Limerick Arts Office, Limerick City and County Council, are delighted to work in partnership with the Lime Tree Theatre | Belltable to bring a new suite of Limerick Theatre Bursaries to theatre practitioners in Limerick and nationally. This provides an enhanced support to the sector, as a response to Covid-19. The objectives of Limerick Theatre Bursaries are informed by the Limerick Cultural Strategy: A Framework 2016 – 2030 and reflect the aims and objectives of the Lime Tree Theatre | Belltable Strategic Plan 2021 – 2025.

Limerick Theatre Bursaries are available of up to €5,000 each (at least 6 awards available) funded by Limerick Arts Office, Limerick City and County Council and by the Lime Tree Theatre | Belltable under its  BelltableConnect programme.

Purpose of the Awards

The objectives of Limerick Theatre Bursaries are informed by the Limerick Cultural Strategy: A Framework 2016 – 2030 and the Lime Tree Theatre | Belltable Strategy for 2021 – 2025 and will:

  • Support build capacity within the theatre sector in Limerick and the mid-west through recognising the need to support the making and development of creative work as well as its presentation
  • Allow theatre practitioners the time and the financial ability to work creatively and develop their ideas
  • Encourage development of quality new work in our city and county and promotion of regional and national interest in Limerick’s theatre scene
  • Encourage development of quality new work in the wider regional and national context

He was named the Limerick Person of the Year (2011) and won an online award at the Metro Éireann Media and Multicultural Awards (2011) for promoting multi-culturalism online.
