Limerick Treaty Suicide Prevention has announced that they will be holding a 5km run or walk throughout June to raise funds for their organisation.
The Limerick Treaty Suicide Prevention 5k walk or run will take place as a month-long event throughout June. Partakers in the event will be able to complete the 5k distance at their own leisurely pace.
The breakdown of the challenge is to get outside and run or walk 5km, next, share a picture of your high five on social media. Now nominate five others to take part in the challenge. Lastly and most importantly, do not forget to donate €5 via the Limerick Treaty Suicide Prevention GoFundMe link.
Limerick Treaty Suicide Prevention has been running since 2018 and works tirelessly towards suicide prevention in Limerick.
Starting off with only six members to their name, Limerick Treaty Suicide Prevention have since majorly expanded.
According to Limerick Treaty Suicide Prevention, “We are a volunteer group patrolling the bridges of Limerick City 4 nights a week assisting those who are struggling and may be at risk of suicide.”
Speaking on the Limerick Treaty Suicide Prevention 5k event, Pat Clohessy of LTSP said, “Suicide is a national health problem that currently ranks as the 2nd leading cause of death. We volunteer on a Day and Nightly basis by patrolling the banks, bridges and surrounding areas of our community to help prevent suicide. We are hoping you can help us this time around by joining us on this challenge!”
Pat added, “5km June advocates, educates, and bring’s awareness to the crisis of suicide, as well as, to offer support to the survivors that are left behind. Join Us Virtually and come together with friends and families of those loved ones lost and help us break the stigma around suicide, depression and mental illness.”
