Limerick Treaty Suicide Prevention (LTSP) is appealing to the public for support as they search for new premises ahead of their departure from their current Cleeve’s base.

The group will have to leave their current base at Cleeve’s by January, as work is set to begin on the riverside site.

Founded in 2018, LTSP is dedicated to patrolling the river in Limerick during the night, offering support to individuals who may need someone to talk to.

Now entering its 9th year of service, the non-profit’s team is committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment where anyone feeling isolated or distressed can find a listening ear.

As part of their work, the need for a base close to the river makes a huge difference to their ability to carry out their vital work.

Highlighting the need for the space, LTSP Public Relations Officer, David O’Mahony said the base would provide somewhere for the group to store its expensive gear, as well as giving their volunteers a place to prepare for the night ahead and to debrief afterwards.

Limerick Treaty Suicide Prevention (LTSP) was established in August 2018 with only 6 members to their name and his since grown to a team of more than 40 members. The team requires a location close to the water so volunteers can reach individuals in distress promptly and without carrying heavy gear across long distances.
