A showcase of handmade crafts by community education participants

The Limerick Community Education Network, Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board and Learning Limerick have partnered to run a Limerick Winter Craft Fair on Thursday, December 8 in the gym, College of Further Education and Training, O’Connell Avenue Campus, O’Connell Avenue, Limerick.

This Limerick Winter Craft Fair event follows the success of the Art Meets Craft in the Coach House exhibition in the People’s Museum during May 2022 and the Open Day held in O’Connell Avenue Campus. Suggestions were made that a craft fair of learners’ work would be a wonderful event to showcase and validate the quality and variety of art and crafts being produced by learners attending classes being run by community-based adult education providers across Limerick City. Learners’ work will be showcased and on sale on the day.

Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board has a number of tutors who deliver courses in the area of craft and these courses have been very popular with learners. Tutors have supported learners to develop and maintain these skills and one of the aims of the initiative is to highlight the quality of work and celebrate the creative skills that are acquired through community-based adult learning across the city. Learners will have an opportunity to not only showcase their craft skills but also provide a space that allows them to sell their creations if they so wish.

The event is free to attend and members of the public are very welcome, along with learners’ family members and friends. Tea/coffee and a mince pie will also be available. All forms of crafts will be on display and on sale such as: knitting, crochet, woodwork, printmaking, ceramics, jewellery, mosaic, decoupage, paintings, cards and other items.
