Limerick Writers Centre Novel Writing Course to Take Place

Limerick writers centre novel writing course is set to take place at the Limerick Writers’ Centre at 12, Barrington Steet, Limerick from February 10 to March 24, 2018, for any aspiring creative writers. The advanced six-week writing course will be targeted at those currently writing a novel, and each class will deal with a different aspect of the process of writing a novel. The enrollment fee is €220, or €200 at concession price. 

Many different themes regarding novel-writing will be discussed throughout the six-week novel writing course. Such themes include finding ideas for a novel, getting into the correct writing state, finding a narrative voice, the construction and implementation of a plot, world-building in novels, and how to write powerful and impactful endings. Participants are expected to share the progress of their novel and receive feedback and insight from others on the course.

The course will be taught by published and highly-regarded novelist Helen Buckhurst, who has received literary bursaries from the Arts Council in Ireland. This is not her first time teaching creative writing; she has previously taught in a wide array of settings, including schools, hospitals and community groups. Buckhurst’s first novel, ‘Swimming on Dry Land’, was published in 2015 by Seren publishers. She has also had her work featured in ‘The Stinging Fly Literary Magazine’. Not only that, but one of her short stories was featured in RTÉ One’s The Francis MacManus Short Story Competition. Helen is currently working on her third novel.
