Limerick Youth Service community day takes place March 21st
Limerick Youth Service community day will take place on Wednesday, March 21st (10am-2pm) as the iconic Community Training Centre will welcome young people, parents, employers, teachers, career guidance councillors for the day.
Run as part of the Limerick Lifelong Learning Festival, the community open day is an opportunity for the public to learn about the education, training, employability and youth work programmes available at LYS.
On arrival, visitors will be given a guided tour and have the opportunity to speak with young people and staff about their experiences while enjoying some of the culinary treats at our youth-led restaurant.
LYS’ Community Training Centre is home to a number of education and training courses for young
people aged 16-21yrs.
Among the subjects covered are Retail Sales, Baking, Catering, Early Childhood Care, Woodwork and Leaving Cert Applied to name but a few with a Youth Information Service also based there. Visitors will also have the opportunity to find out more about other groups/projects with LYS including the On Yer Bike Programme, youth clubs, international youth work and more.
Affectionately known as ‘The Youth Centre,’ LYS’ Community Training Centre is located at the corner of Lr. Glentworth St/Henry St and has been a feature of Limerick life since it first opened its doors in the early 1980s.
