Limerick Youth Theatre Pride of Place Awards Nomination

Limerick Youth Theatre Pride of Place Awards nomination has come as some great news for the young performers. The IPB Pride of Place Awards ceremony, in Association with Co-Operation Ireland will take place in November 2016. A judging panel is set to visit Limerick Youth Theatre in July, where they will be presented with information by the Youth Theatre with regards to the organization including past info about the establishment, present such as current awards and projects and their vision for the theatre. They will also discuss the future for the theatre such as their support in Limerick 2020 bid, upcoming projects and events.

Limerick Youth Theatre will be joined by the villages of Murroe and Broadford, as well as the Liskennett Farm in Granagh as the local representatives in the national competition. Earlier this year Limerick City and County Council invited local communities, projects and housing estates who expressed interest in being nominated for the Pride of Place Awards and the four were chosen to be nominated for the competition. Limerick Youth Theatre is to be represented in the Community Arts Initiative, City Category.

The Pride of Place is run in conjunction with local authorities North and South and aims to recognise and celebrate the vital contributions that communities make to society along with generating awareness, respect and inclusion for every facet of society. Limerick Youth Theatre will fly the flag in the Community Arts Initiative -City Category.

Limerick Youth Theatre was founded in 1997 with a plan to provide a unique and creative opportunity for young people from different social and cultural backgrounds to come together through youth drama experiences and performance. The company runs a two-year training course in theatre and performance arts. Limerick Youth Theatre holds weekly workshops with artists and directors from October to May yearly, and presents a full-length production in August after 5 weeks intensive rehearsals.
