In an innovative scheme designed to show all Limerick’s Volunteers that they are appreciated Limerick Volunteer Centre (LVC) are delighted to launch their very special Discount Scheme for Volunteers during National Week of Volunteering 12th -17th May. So far over 50 businesses in Limerick have joined this special discount scheme and LVC can envisage that number increasing greatly. “We aim to recruit at least 100 businesses right across the City and County so when a Volunteer receives their special discount card it will be of genuine value!” said Paul Moriarty (LVC Coordinator).

How does the scheme work?

There are over 300 non-profit organisations registered with LVC and they are all depend the efforts of volunteers to survive. LVC will issue each organisation with cards which can be passed on to their volunteers as a “Thank You!”. When volunteers receive their card, they can check on www.volunteerlimerick.ie to see who will give them a special discount. Or they can watch out for the special Point of Sale Posters displayed in participating retailers, coffee shops, hairdressers etc. So far, 10% discount seems to be the most common offer but there are others.

We have 8,000 cards to give away and 2,500 are earmarked for this year’s Special Olympics Volunteers.

The scheme will run to the end of the year and we genuinely hope that Limerick’s hard hit business sector receives a boost from the initiative.

If you are a business who would like to get involved by offering a discount to volunteers, please contact LVC by phone or log onto www.volunteerlimerick.ie and register your details. It’s really easy to do!

If you are a volunteer and you would like a card, please tell the organisation where you volunteer to contact LVC and we will happily supply them with discount cards.
