LIT MA Space course offers a full scholarship
A full scholarship for an LIT MA Space programme has been announced. Prior graduates to this scholarship opportunity include Blindboy Boatclub, of the Rubberbandits.
Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT) welcomes applications for the scholarship, which covers the entire course fees, for its Masters in Social Practice and the Creative Environment in LSAD.
The LIT MA Space programme has caught the interest of a galactic panel of international visiting lecturers. Course directors Sean Taylor and Marilyn Lennon said they were “delighted” to be able to announce the scholarship.
“Art is for putting ideas about life and society into an alternative language to the dominant one and starting new conversations”, said a 2015 MA Space graduate, Blindboy.
Dr. Marilyn Lennon revealed that all students partaking in the 2016 course may apply for the full scholarship. She then went on to reveal some of this year’s project ideas, “We’re especially excited to announce it this year, as we have some wonderful projects in train with Gregory Sholette, of Harvard Graduate Design School, with IMMA and with Create.”
Sean Taylor, joint course leader commented on social practice as, “the most innovative and ground breaking area in the expanded field of creative practice.” The ‘Nice Screams’ project founder furthered his opinion by saying, “Our graduates are flexible, innovative and informed practitioners who have the ability to engage and act in a huge variety of roles within fine art, social practice, design and related fields.”
Previous artists who graduated from the LIT MA Space programme – worked nationally and internationally, partaking in projects, shows, biennales and residencies – included Deirdre Power, Steve Maher, Pauline O’Connell, Joanna Hopkins and Jackie Hehir.

To apply for this LIT MA Space scholarship, applicants must complete the LIT postgraduate programme application form and submit a short report of between 500 and 1000 words, titled ‘How the MA in Social Practice and the Creative Environment would transform my practice’. The closing date for entries is June 13.
