The free summer camp will take place from Monday, 21 June to 24 June.

The LIT MIC Empower Summer Camps are funded by the Higher Education Authority and are supported by guest entrepreneurs and innovators, giving students a unique opportunity to work on solving real-life problems.

Gillian Barry, Head of Innovation & Enterprise at LITdescribed the programme as a collaborative effort between LIT and MIC in enhancing the skill needs of the region.

“We are delighted to be working with our partners from Mary Immaculate College on the Empower Summer Camps again this year. We know that in times of crisis comes opportunity. The pandemic has accelerated an era of innovation with many young people starting their own business to inventing technology and services. Every young person we work with has the potential to solve problems and impact our future in a positive way. For that to be fully realised it needs to be nurtured and developed and to power that potential, we have created this high quality, educational, activity-based programme.”

The programme aims to promote innovation, communication, personal effectiveness, critical and creative thinking, and working with others, which are prioritised in the Framework for Junior and Senior Cycle Education through a variety of inquiry-based, student-centred, teaching and learning pedagogies. This programme will focus on observations and opening the students’ eyes to the world around them; helping to listen with empathy, and develop social awareness and problem-solving skills aimed at senior cycle post-primary students, the LIT MIC Empower Summer Camps will take place online this summer facilitated by LIT & MIC.

The FREE summer camp will take place from Monday, 21 June to 24 June, with the second camp starting Tuesday 13 July to 16 July.

Registration now open HERE with places limited to 25 students each week.
