Limerick Local Bereavement Network to host a Living with Loss Bereavement Support evening on Tuesday, October 22
The event helps people gain practical insights into coping with loss and to find meaningful support networks.

The Limerick Local Bereavement Network will host a FREE evening dedicated to supporting individuals and families who are navigating bereavement, grief and loss. The Living with Loss Bereavement Support Evening, set for Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 7 PM, is open to all members of the Limerick community and beyond and takes place at the Castletroy Park Hotel.

This free event provides a safe space for individuals to engage in meaningful conversations about bereavement, listen to talks from professionals and members of the public with experience of grief, and learn more about the support services available in the greater Limerick area. Whether you are grieving, or you support someone who is, this evening promises an opportunity to connect with others who understand the journey of loss.

The keynote speakers will be Charlotte and Katie Ann O’Toole, founders of Jacinta’s Smile. Jacinta’s Smile is a bereavement support service for children and young adults who have experienced the death of a sibling, Estelle McGinley of Milford Care Centre, Rebecca Lloyd, UHL End of Life Coordinator and Jennifer Moran Stritch of the Technological University of the Shannon, Loss & Grief Research Group and Death Cafe Limerick.

Representatives from various local and national organisations including Milford Care Centre, Irish Hospice Foundation, Anam Cara, A Little Lifetime, National Office for Suicide Prevention, HUGG Suicide Bereavement, Northstar Family Support Project, UHL End of Life Coordinator, Embrace FARM, the Children’s Grief Centre Limerick and other support organisations will be present to share resources and guidance.

This event is an ideal way for those who live, work, or study in Limerick to gain practical insights into coping with loss and to find meaningful support networks.

“This evening aims to bring the wider community together, providing a space where individuals can hear from speakers with personal experience of different kinds of loss and bereavement, and learn about the many support services available to us in the greater Limerick area,” said Jennifer Moran Stritch, chair of the Limerick Local Bereavement Network.

Refreshments will be served on the night.
