Lorna Byrne and Cathy Kelly joint fundraising event

Following a packed fundraising event in Limerick last month, Lorna Byrne is continuing her mission to help local Limerick charity Blue Box by securing the support of one of Ireland’s best-loved storytellers and current number one author Cathy Kelly. The Lorna Byrne and Cathy Kelly joint fundraising event will be held at the National Concert Hall on 22nd November in aid of the Lorna Byrne Children’s Foundation. Lorna will be interviewed by fellow bestselling author and Unicef ambassador Cathy in a unique speaking event where they will tackle the big subjects of love, life, hope, death, faith and of course Angels.
Lorna who this year picked Blue Box as one of her chosen charities says: “I have known for a long time that I had to set up my charity, like my books it is something God and the angels have always told me I would have to do. It was to be set up to help children but I kept putting it off, my own children were too young but now they are more grown, they understand life much better, they have their own children so they recognise what is important in life.”
The angels were insistent – now, with her kids grown, this year Lorna set up the Lorna Byrne Children’s Foundation. Her aim is to help the children here in Ireland and across the world: “We never know whether the child we are helping could be that one child who will make a major difference in the world, a child who grows up to give us solutions we are looking for, who will make the world a more peaceful place, who will come up with the cure to a major disease. We have to give all children a chance to lead a fulfilling and happy life. If today’s children don’t live to have children themselves, there will be no future.”
All proceeds from An evening with Lorna Byrne and Cathy Kelly will go directly to support the Lorna Byrne Children’s Foundation three chosen children’s charities for 2015, Blue Box, APA – A Partnership with Africa and Unicef Ireland’s Syria Appeal. The fundraiser will also include a Q&A session where the audience can pose questions to Cathy or Lorna directly.
Tickets are priced from €15 to €25 and are available from the National Concert Hall website here or by calling 01 417 0000.
