The Love The Bear Campaign has been set up by Creative Arts Therapy Centre The Blue Box in order to raise funds for services they provide to disadvantaged and vulnerable children in Limerick. Take a photo with your beloved teddy bear and post it to any social media platform using the hashtag #LoveTheBear

After you have posted your photo The Blue Box are asking everyone to please Text BEAR to 50300 to donate €2. 100% of your donation goes to The Blue Box CLC across most network operators. Some operators apply VAT which means that a minimum of €1.63 will go to The Blue Box CLC.

Children and young people who require the services of The Blue Box have experienced trauma as a result of domestic or environmental circumstances, including secondary trauma, grief and loss. To address issues such as these The Blue Box provides research based, professional and creative arts psychotherapy, which enhances a child’s cognitive, emotional and behavioural development. This treatment results in benefits to their social, emotional, behavioural, developmental and educational needs.The Blue Box utilises proven creative arts therapies art, music, dance/movement, play and drama in a secure and confidential space. These methods create a sense of safety through healthy self-expression, enabling co-operation and engagement in family, school and community in a creative, participatory way. These techniques aid children in developing skills on how to deal with stresses they encounter.Based in Limerick, The Blue Box also provides services to over 20 DEIS schools, as well as handling social services referrals. Sile Kileen, Scoil Mhuire Banrion na hEireann praised this invaluable service “I would like to thank The Blue Box Arts therapists most sincerely for the wonderful work they have done with our pupils that attended their specialist sessions. It has been of enormous benefit to students who have social, emotional and behavioural issues.”

The Blue Box is the only charity in Ireland and Europe that has dedicated its resources to child psychotherapy and family support. Due to the successes of this initiative there has been a call for The Blue Box services to expand the centre to Galway, Cork and Dublin, all of which requires significant funding in order to happen. The people of Ireland CAN make a difference to this fantastic organisation that benefits so many!
