Led by learners with the LYS Catering Skills Project, the teenagers collected recyclable plastic bottles from their peers, staff and patrons at the LYS Community Training Centre and raised a total of €545.

John Higgins, Milford Care Centre, was on site to thank the young people for raising the funds saying, ‘your generosity of great appreciated by all at Milford Care Centre.’

‘Sadly, we all know of someone close to us who has availed of the services at Milford and it is through acts of kindness like yours, that Milford can provide its care and support to patients and their families,’ said John.

Kathryn Clancy, Manager of the LYS’ Community Training Centre echoed John’s sentiments and thanked the learners, especially those with the restaurant project of the Catering Skills Course for leading by example.

‘You took the initiative by collecting the bottles, creating collection points across the two LYS city spaces and reminded us daily to drop off our bottles,’ said Kathryn with a smile.

‘For what you have achieved you should be extremely proud of yourselves as we are of you,’ said Kathryn as she thanked instructor Shelia Walsh for supporting the learners with their recycling project.

The young people are learners with the restaurant project of the Catering Skills Course that is located at the LYS Community Training Centre, Lr. Glentworth St, Limerick.
