Closing out the festival on Sunday, June 23rd, families are invited to experience the wonder of Magic Piano & Chopin Shorts on screen.

This family-friendly animated film concert, with live solo piano by Michael McHale, was created by Oscar® award-winning creators BreakThru Films, and introduces the music of Chopin with a set of unique animations.

Produced for Chopin’s 200th anniversary, Magic Piano tells the story of 10-year old Anna who misses her father working abroad. Deciding to run away, she stumbles into an old piano, which transforms into a magical flying machine, a cross between a piano, an air-ship, and a giant sailing ship.

Magic Piano is presented in this new live format alongside The Chopin Shorts, a collection of short films, from award-winning animators.

The main feature, Magic Piano (30 minutes), tells the story of Anna and Chip-Chip’s adventure of discovery aboard a magic, flying piano.

This is presented alongside The Chopin Shorts: a collection of 2-3 minute films, each set to Chopin études:

• Fat Hamster (Opus 25. No. 8)

• Pl.ink! (Opus 10. No. 4)

• Hamster Heaven (Opus 10. No. 11)

• Papa’s Boy (Opus 25. No. 9)

Come enjoy an afternoon of film, music, and fun for all ages!

Limerick Summer Proms is delighted to partner with Dublin LGBTQ+ Pride Festival, Limerick Pride Festival, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, and Irish Chamber Orchestra and is proudly supported by the University of Limerick, University Concert Hall and Limerick City and County Council.
