Local dance crew Limerockers have invited dance collaborators from far flung shores to join in, including legendary breakdancer Bboy, Tommy Guns, from the Renegade Rockers (San Francisco)

A major street art exhibition led by artist and youth worker, Catherine O’Halloran, of the St Munchin’s Family Resource Centre, will animate the Pery Square area. The Peoples Park will be the venue for the Park Paint Parade on July 7 where the entire park will become a celebration of art. The vibe will be set by DJs; fire breathers; food stalls/vendors and live demonstrations by the most skilled graffiti artists in Ireland. Limerick City Gallery of Art will host youth workshops and a masterclass for street artists, led by graffiti artist RASK, from June 18 right up to the festival.

Dance will be seen all over Limerick during the festival. Bedford Row will be dedicated to dance and music for a day; Daghdha’s studios will, once again, be alive with dance, screenings and discussion forums. Young enthusiasts from Moyross, Southill, Weston and Garryowen will participate in a week of dance training with Limerick’s favourite BBoy, Bazzy B.

International rap artists Voice and DJ P.U.D.G.E (LA) will join a host of Irish MC’s and producers already committed to attending the festival. There will be advisory sessions for hip hop artists on production with facilitators from Ireland and abroad. The festival’s late night centrepiece will be the Tackie Ball, – a stiletto free festival club night in the Daghdha Church space. There will also be many more associated events in venues throughout the city centre—all in the mix for a landmark festival for Limerick.

So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
