Shannon Region Conference & Sports Bureau and Meet in Ireland, the Business Tourism brand for Fáilte Ireland brought representatives of some national and international Destination Management Companies (DMCs) on a #MakeItIreland tour of the Shannon Region in an aim to promote the region as a destination for conference and business tourism.
Showing sites such as Adare Village, Ennis town as well as the attractions and heritage sites the region has to offer. The DMC representatives had the opportunity to see conference centres in Limerick City and the surrounding region – Limerick’s Milk Market, King John’s Castle and the newly open House Limerick were just some of the venues on display.Representatives from Dublin, Italy, Germany among other countries were brought on a tour of the region, experiencing a fashion show organised by the Holman Lee Agency in the Dunraven Arms Hotel, Adare before visiting Bunratty Castle and King John’s Castle. Afterwards, they travelled on a horse-drawn carriage courtesy of Limerick Carriage Tours to House Limerick, the Savoy Hotel and experienced the culture of Limerick’s Milk Market. The evening was rounded off with dinner in one of the city’s newest restaurants, Tuscany Bistro and an overnight stay at the Radisson Hotel.

Business worth more than €7m was supported by the Shannon Region Conference and Sports Bureau during 2016. More than 30 international events took place last year including the Japanese Karate Association World Championships, The Pan-Am Reunion, Syndicat du Decolletage, and The World BBQ Championships.
The bureau’s remit is to promote the Shannon region as a location for business and sports tourism and offer an entirely free service to event organisers and local ambassadors to help increase the Clare and Limerick region’s share of the international business and sports tourism market.
