The exhibition runs from Sep 6 to 17 Nov 2019 with previews on Thursday, September 6 between 6 to 8 pm.

For SedimentNeudecker will present some key pieces taking the visitors through various strands of her practice.  This ranges from early map works, the Plastic Vanitas still life series, Deep-Sea and Arctic projects including new two-dimensional works and a new tank work specially commissioned for the exhibition. In promoting her inquiry in the relationship between the actual and mediated, she keeps returning to looking at landscape tradition in art, dealing simultaneously with questions around technology, science, changes to our environment, collective experience and time.

Neudecker was born in Dusseldorf and studied art in Germany before continuing her studies in Ireland and then in Britain, where she now lives in Bristol.

Other solo exhibitions include in the Ikon Gallery, Birmingham; Tate Britain and St Ives and the Kunstmuseum, Trondheim, Norway. Neudecker has also shown widely in international group exhibitions.

Neudecker is Professor and Research Fellow at Bath Spa University, Fellow for CERN’s Visiting Arts Programme and works on the European Commission’s JRC Science and Arty advisory panel.

Una McCarthy, Director/Curator of the Limerick City Gallery of Art,  said, “We are delighted to welcome this exhibition as it is a First for Limerick City Gallery of Art hosting Mariele’s first exhibition solo exhibition in a cultural institution in Ireland.”

“We have commissioned one of her signature pieces for this exhibition along with a series of two-dimensional works.  The exhibition will travel to Britain in 2020 and LCGA is working with Bath Spa University to publish a catalog of the work in the exhibition,” she added.

As with all exhibitions in Limerick City Gallery of Art, admission is free.

Neudecker is represented by Galerie Barbara Thumm, Berlin, Thomas Rehbein, Galerie Cologne, Galerie in Camera, Paris, and Galeria Pedro Cera, Lisbon.
