Marine Search and Rescue Service in Limerick have received €70 thousand from the John Patrick McManus fund. The JP McManus Fund key purpose is to support local community initiatives and non-profit organisations throughout Limerick and the Mid-West of Ireland.
The life-saving service at the Marine Search and Rescue Service in Limerick has been given planning permission for the floating pontoon so they can securely have two rescue boats ready and allow them to launch faster when they get a call out.
The €70 thousand donation will cover the complete cost of providing all equipment necessary and placing the pontoon, which the team hope will be in action by May this year.
Chairman of the Marine Search and Rescue Service, Tony Cusack, said they are “very grateful to Mr McManus. This is the third time we have asked him for help and each times he’s been so generous to us. This will save precious minutes when someone goes in the water.”
Limerick’s Marine Search and Rescue Service work closely with Corbett Suicide Prevention Petrol and the placement of the pontoon with two rescue boats always at standby will be a huge help to both services when called out.
