Mary Immaculate College 100,000 Euro scholarship announced

Christmas may be over but the gifts keep on coming as Mary Immaculate College 100,000 Euro scholarship is announced for incoming students; giving Leaving Certificate students 50 more reasons to make MIC their number one choice.

Commencing in September 2017, MIC will offer a total of 50 entrance scholarships to incoming undergraduate first-year students across all nine undergraduate programmes currently on offer by the College. These scholarships, valued at €2,000 each, will be offered on the basis of results obtained in the Leaving Certificate Examinations.

Speaking on the announcement, Prof. Eugene Wall, Vice President and Registrar of MIC, said: “We are delighted to launch these scholarships and we can be confident that the financial supports provided by this scheme will make Mary Immaculate College an even more attractive choice for students”.

Welcoming the announcement was Mr James Deegan, President of the Students Union at MIC, who said, “MISU welcomes the announcement by MIC of the undergraduate scholarships which will be offered across the nine programmes to incoming first-year students. We look forward to working with the College to extend these scholarships beyond academic merit to include areas such as sporting achievements, talent and excellence in the creative arts and highly able students facing financial hardship.

The 50 scholarships are tenable only in MIC for the First Year of a full-time primary degree programme to be undertaken at the College and will be allocated to the following programmes as follows:

 Bachelor of Education (Primary Teaching) MI005/006 20 scholarships

 Liberal Arts programme (MI002) 15 scholarships

 BA in Early Childhood Care and Education (MI007) 5 scholarships

 MIC, St Patrick’s Campus, Thurles programmes 5 scholarships

(MI009/MI010/MI01/MI012)

 Bachelor of Education and Psychology (MI008) 3 scholarships

 BA in Contemporary and Applied Theatre 2 scholarships 

So if you are interested in a career in primary or secondary level teaching, in media or psychology, in early years education or theatre, to name but a few options, there are now 50 more reasons to choose MIC as your number one choice when filling out your CAO form this January.
