The Irish Open Long Course Masters Championship Gala 2018 will take place at the University of Limerick Sports Arena 50m swimming pool in Limerick on Friday, March 2 and Saturday, March 3.

Limerick Masters Swimming Club is a competitive masters club with a passion for swimming, healthy lifestyle, quality coaching and having fun.  The club will proudly host the Irish Open Long Course Masters Championship Gala 2018 at the University of Limerick Sports Arena 50m swimming pool in Limerick on Friday, March 2 and Saturday, March 3.

Over 300 competitors will participate over the two days including some significant overseas participation from Estonia, Lithuania, England, and Scotland. As well as this, there will be a strong representation from all parts of Ireland, north and south. This year’s entries are on a similar scale to last year’s. There will be plenty of exciting events happening throughout the weekend, with a full program making this the largest Masters Gala event in the country!

The Gala will kick off on Friday, March 2 at 7 pm with the 1500m freestyle. Entrants for this event include the top long-distance swimmers in the country, so it’s sure to be a thrilling watch.

The main program commences bright and early at 8.45 am on Saturday morning with a full program of events running up until 5 pm that evening. Just like previous years, the Kearney Perpetual Cup will be awarded for the 1,500m freestyle, the Limerick Masters SC Perpetual Cup is up for grabs the 50m freestyle and the Neylon Perpetual Trophy is for the taking for the 50m breaststroke. These three cups will be awarded to the swimmers who are nearest to the world record in their respective age group.
