The event is in honour of Michal Rejmer who tragically passed away in 2017

The event takes place in memory of Michal Rejmer who tragically passed away in December 2015. The Ten Mile run in memory of Michael Rejmer 2021 is organised by Dooneen Athletic Club as it has been for many years now. The talented athlete was a dedicated and popular member of Dooneen, and the club started the series to honour the Polish athlete’s legacy.

Unfortunately, last year’s event had to be cancelled due to the rising number of Covid 19 cases.

This year’s event aims to raise funds for Limerick Suicide Watch and all the amazing work that they do. Limerick Suicide Watch is a local voluntary group of people who patrol the seven bridges of Limerick City every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday night, including Christmas Night and New Year’s Eve.

According to the group, their focus is to keep eyes on the river and identify and provide support to those in distress and who may be contemplating suicide. A spokesperson said, “As part of our Suicide awareness programme and our Community Outreach programme, we visit schools, colleges, places of work and local communities to provide support, promote positive mental health and encourage conversation around mental health and suicide.”

Dooneen AC commented, “Dooneen AC would like to thank all those who have supported our events over the last number of years and wish you all the best for 2021.”

Tickets for the ten-mile run event can be purchased via eventmaster.com. Each individual ticket costs a total of €10.

Best of luck to everyone who is participating in this event on May 23!
