Mid West Simon Community reaches out to people who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or experiencing housing difficulties. They work with people in the spirit of cooperation and community to provide appropriate quality standards in our care and support and in housing provision and they campaign for legislative and policy changes in our vision to end homelessness.

‘A Musical Evening of Three’ in support of the Mid West Simon Community will take place at the Redemptorists Church, Mount St Alphonsus, South Circular Road on May 19. Duncan Casey of Munster Rugby will MC an evening of music with performances by The Limerick Gospel Choir, the Capriccio String Quartet and The Glenstal Boys’ Choir.

Duncan who is an ambassador for the Mid West Simon Community, got involved two and a half years ago, lending a hand in whatever way he could to make the work of the Mid West Simon Community that bit easier. His parents influenced Duncan’s involvement, “My parents always donated to the Cork Simon Community when I was growing up and were always very vocal about their support of the work the charity does,” explained Duncan. Speaking ahead of the event in at the Redemptorists Church, Duncan admitted,  “I am very excited about it, it will be a very special occasion and hopefully we get a great turn out and raise some much need funds to help the Mid West Simon Community”.

Jackie Bonfield, the general manager of the Mid West Simon Midwest Community explained how, “the church holds a one thousand people so we are very hopeful about raising between €800 and €1000 on the night”.

“It’s lining up to be a great evening and I really encourage people to attend” continued Jackie. “The groups performing are magnificent, and the opportunity to bring people together and make them aware of the work the Simon Community in a way that people can enjoy, is very important”.

Those who cannot attend the evening are encouraged to make a donation if they can to the Mid West Simon Community.
