A prize-winning author, Mac Domhnaill, and Revival Press are publishing a powerful new collection of poetry called Poems for Palestine.

Mac Domhnaill has written about political issues throughout his career, but the situation in Israel and Palestine has moved him to create this particular work.

He wanted to document what he sees as ongoing injustices against Palestinian civilians. “The West has become complicit in ethnic cleansing, apartheid and genocide,” says Mac Domhnaill, adding, “This book simply bears witness.”

The Newcastle West Poet and Revival Press will release the book with two special launch events on Friday, September 26, at the People’s Museum of Limerick, and the second launch date in his native Newcastle West on Saturday, October 11, at the Red Door.

Born and living in west Limerick, Mike MacDomhnaill was the winner of the RTÉ Short Story Award 2013. Included in “Poetry as Commemoration” UCD; What Worth the Head, Limerick Anthology; I Live in Michael Hartnett, Ed James Lawlor; The Hong Kong Review; The Stony Thursday Book; Comhar; Feasta. Has broadcast pieces for Sunday Miscellany, RTÉ.

Memorably described by writer and publisher Pádraig Ó Snodaigh as “file engagé” (committed poet) because of his attachment to various causes.
