Limerick FC is backing the Milford Hospice 10km fundraising event that aims to raise funds for Milford Hospice. The 10km Run/Walk will take place on Sunday, February 16 at the University of Limerick with a start time of 11 am.

The event was launched by Limerick Football Club Manager Stuart Taylor.  Stuart explained “Limerick FC are delighted to be associated with the event.  With so many people getting fit after all the Christmas festivities and with New Year resolutions in place, what better way to start the New Year by participating in the Milford Hospice 10km fun run/walk.  I encourage everyone to participate – bring your friends, family, neighbours – everyone is welcome to come out and support Milford Hospice,” he said.

The 10km is open to runners and walkers of all levels and ability with all of the proceeds going directly to Milford Hospice.

Speaking at the launch, Pat Quinlan Chief Executive of Milford Care Centre explained “the inaugural event sponsored by Deloitte, was a huge success last year with 1500 participating on the day and so the decision was made to continue with the event.  Community support is the backbone to the services being provided by Milford and without public support and contributions, the Hospice Services would struggle to deliver the care, comfort and dignity that families require.  We would appeal to the community to join in on the day by running, jogging or walking as it’s an event we would really like to see grow”.

The 10km route will congregate on the track in UL for warm up and start from behind the UL Arena, winding its way round the campus and Plassey Road before finishing on the UL track.  There will be refreshments supplied during and after the event.

Entry is €20 and is now open, early registration is encouraged on www.eventmaster.ie.
