For 40 years, Milford Care Centre has provided the best possible hospice care to the people of the Mid-West. They have always relied on the strength and support of the community to serve their patients and their families from counties Limerick, Clare and North Tipperary.

Pat Quinlan, the Chief Executive of Milford Care Centre told the Limerick Leader: “The Milford Hospice Harvest Fair 2018 was set up originally to help raise funds to support the services here in Milford, and I suppose it has grown over the years and now it’s our single major event every year.”

Milford Harvest Fair is part of the tradition for the Milford Care Centre. The idea of a traditional fair is loved by people. Key elements for this year should be stalls offering books, toys and a variety of goods for all the family, including handbags and scarves, which are featuring this year to add a new burst of colour to the day.  Patrons can also enjoy favourites such as the “Wheel of Fortune”, children’s fun activities, the food court, a vintage car display and live music.

Home-made baked goods can be dropped on the day of the fair and other items could be dropped to the Harvest Fair drop off point at the bottom of the main car park on the grounds of Milford Care Centre. Donations are accepted from Monday, August 13 to 30. Books are being accepted from the 13th August to the 16th August. Baked Goods and Cakes on the day of the harvest fair at the Limerick Arena. Furniture and electrical items are not accepted at this time.

Milford Care Centre is a voluntary, not-for-profit organisation and registered charity. It was first established by the Little Company of Mary Sisters in 1928 and now provides Specialist Palliative Care and Older Persons Services in the Mid West. Its Board of Directors and Management Team oversees its service delivery and fundraising activities.

Proceeds from the event will be used to support and improve Milford’s new hospice facility for patients and their families throughout the Mid-West.
