During a question and answer session with participants from Community Employment and TÚS labour market programmes, as well as clients of the Local Employment Service and the Job Club, Minister Varadkar heard how Department of Social Protection programmes have helped individuals create a pathway back to work. Minister Varadkar also met a number of people assisted into self-employment with the aid of the Back to Work Enterprise Allowance. The PAUL Partnership Enterprise Support Service plays a major role in supporting people to apply for this payment by providing a one to one support service for those interested in self-employment and collaborating with the Local Enterprise Office to provide a suite of free training workshops during the year.

The Minister complimented PAUL Partnership on the range of work carried out on behalf of his Department. CEO Anne Kavanagh outlined the numbers of people who are supported in the Labour Market Programmes, Community Employment and TÚS, noting that over 900 people were supported by these programmes into jobs or self-employment in 2015.
