Limerick author Mirette Hanley launches debut novel The Blue Hydrangea

By I Love Limerick Correspondent Maxine Bramley

Limerick author Mirette Hanley has recently published her first novel The Blue Hydrangea. Set in Connemara and in Limerick, the inspiration for the book came from a death the author witnessed when she was staying in Ballynahinch Castle several years ago.

The book tells the story of two families whose lives are intertwined by a tragedy that occurs at a hotel in Connemara. Loss, redemption, and betrayal are part and parcel of this story. The book is full of twists and turns. It’s a page-turner that keeps you guessing right until the final page.

“I have been writing away for the last ten years and this is my first foray into the publishing world,” Mirette said about her first published book.

The Blue Hydrangea was officially launched yesterday, Wednesday, November 22 at House Limerick by Irish writer and TV personality Mary Kennedy and over 200 people attended.

The Blue Hydrangea is currently available at Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com, in both paperback and kindle.  It will also become available soon at the Cliften Bookshop.

“I published the book on Amazon mid-September and I am thrilled to say that it has really taken off. I was shocked at the emotional response to the book from readers and at how well the book is selling! I am hearing from readers all over the country and abroad,” Mirette Hanley said.

The Irish Times Magazine ‘The Gloss’ also has high praises for the authors first published novel and will be featuring it in their Christmas edition released in early December as the recommended book to read in Connemara.

Limerick author Mirette Hanley studied English, Psychology, and History at Trinity College Dublin beginning her working life as a journalist. She worked as a features writer for The Irish Times and as a news presenter on the radio. She has also been published in a wide number of magazines. She later worked in the education sector, working as an Advocate for teenagers in second-chance education. These days she divides her time between writing and working as an Advocate. She lives in Limerick with her husband and The Blue Hydrangea is her first published novel.

The Blue Hydrangea is a must read this season. It prices at €13.99 paperback and €4.99 on Kindle and is available on Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk.
