Miss Limerick 2018 Beibhinn Haren fundraises for LauraLynn Children’s Hospice

On September 8, Beibhinn Haren, Miss Limerick 2018 fundraises by holding a coffee afternoon and a bucket collection in aid of Lauralynn, Ireland’s Children’s Hospice.

Lauralynn children’s hospice provides palliative care and support for all children with life-limiting conditions. Their holistic approach to care ensures that they are supporting the whole family, allowing parents to have time to be a ‘Mum and Dad’ rather than full-time carers.

The hospice offers support for children from birth to their 18th birthday, all of their care is free for families, children can be referred to LauraLynn from anywhere in Ireland and care is provided within LauraLynn House and care in the child’s family home through the LauraLynn@HOME programme. When a child has a life-limiting condition, many parents take on the role of primary carer and prefer to care for their child at home when possible. Lauralynn aims to provide access to a range of regular and reliable respite, both in and away from home.

Beibhinn was able to raise 1,300 euros to help fund the children’s hospice. “I was so so grateful for everyone coming and showing support. I was so shocked with all the kind donations, we raised €1,300 for Laura Lynn between my coffee afternoon and also the bucket collection outside Raheen centra, with Laura Mansbridge, Miss Limerick North. Lauralynn was so delighted with the money raised. Of course, the day couldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for my mom and dad, Brid Malone and Martin Haren, who set up the house and did all the baking.”
