Limerick’s Molly Moo’s Westie Rescue, dedicated to rehoming unwanted Westies, ex-breeder dogs and dogs looking for their forever homes, has highlighted the growing demand for support as the organisation continues its important work throughout Ireland.

Speaking with I Love Limerick at EastPoint Retail Park on the Ballysimon Road, Chloe from Molly Moo’s Rescue explained the group’s origins, saying, “ The lady who founded Molly Moo’s is a woman called Eileen, and Eileen rescued Westies herself, as she had a love for them, and then started re-homing Westies.

“As the years go on, she grew it to re-homing all small, medium, large dogs. Uh, she takes lots of surrenders to the pounds and various different circumstances throughout the country, and we re-home all over Ireland.”

Chloe said ongoing costs such as food and veterinary bills mean public support is essential to keeping the rescue operating now more than ever.

Chloe said, “ Between getting food, vet bills, which are so high all the time, flea, worm treatments, every dog that comes to us, we get them neutered, vaccinated, chipped, flea and wormed before re-homing. We do home checks all over the country, so everything helps towards keeping the rescue running.”

Petmania, who has chosen Molly Moo’s as a charity partner, has continued their support, inviting the group to the reopening of their Limerick store in Eastpoint Business Park where they had an opportunity to speak to the public about the work they carry out.

“ It’s fantastic. We’d be lost without them,” Chloe said, adding, “All the time, not even just today, throughout the whole year, they’re always donating food to us, helping us out with anything they can, and we would never be able to feed the amount of mouths that are fed without their donations that come to us.”

Supporters were encouraged to continue backing the rescue and its work helping vulnerable dogs across the country. You can find information on dogs that need fostering or adopting by visiting their Instagram page, and you can support them with donations through their iDonate page. All dogs will be neutered, vaccinated and chipped before being rehomed.
