By I Love Limerick correspondent Stella Gordon
The Moore Morning River Walk is a popular fundraiser event hosted by Moore Limerick; an accounting firm and financial advisory group based in Dooradoyle. This year the river walk is taking place on Friday, September 9 to coincide with World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10. Funds are being raised for volunteer group Limerick Suicide Watch. Participants in the river walk can choose to run, walk, or jog.

The Moore Morning River Walk will begin at 7am from St Michaels Rowing Club, leaving promptly. The walk will take place along the River Shannon on the Condell Road and will be 5km long.
World Suicide Prevention Day takes place every year on September 10. Whilst awareness on suicide prevention should be spread every day, September 10 is an opportunity for events and actions to take place across the world, inspiring people to get involved in the conversation. It was established in 2003 by the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) with the aim of reducing stigma around suicide and raising awareness. The IASP motto is “Creating Hope Through Action.”
Limerick Suicide Watch are a volunteer group that provide support to people in Limerick who may be contemplating suicide. They patrol between the bridges in Limerick City, at least four nights a week offering support and assistance to those in need. Limerick Suicide Watch spread awareness on suicide prevention in schools, workplaces, colleges and they work on holidays such as Christmas Day and New Years Eve. The hardworking group rely solely on donations and fundraising for their fundamental safety equipment and training, which is why Moore Limerick are encouraging as many people as possible to join in on the Moore Morning River Walk.
Anyone is welcome to join the event on September 9 and attendees are encouraged to donate directly to Limerick Suicide Watch via Eventmaster (linked below).
Moore Limerick commented on Twitter, “This is a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, with coffee, light refreshments and a chat post-run.”
“Save the date and invite friends, family and colleagues to come along and support the event – Everyone is welcome.”
