Lorcan McAuliffe from Athea and Amanda Boland from Jamesboro were crowned the winners of this years competition, along with Beer Burankum Condron who was voted the crowd favourite on the night.

Hosting the occasion was drag queen Carrie Deway, who was dressed in a number of glamorous outfits throughout the event and welcomed each of the five contestants to the stage.

This year’s panel for the competition included LGBTQ+ activist Jim Lawless, mental health advocate Jen Ronan and Limerick singer/songwriter Michelle Grimes.

The nights festivities kicked off at 9 pm as guests started to spill into the bar. The Mr & Ms Gay Limerick contestants went through various rounds while competing for the title, beginning with an opening round to introduce themselves, the swimwear round and finally the formal wear round, where they delved into deeper questions about LGBTQ+ rights and their own experiences in Limerick city. The judges had a hard decision to make about who to choose to represent Limerick in the LGBTI community as each contestant brought their own style and uniqueness to the competition.

In between rounds were also performances from MC of the night Carrie Deway as well as singing from judge Michelle Grimes.

After a brief interval, the judges announced this year’s winner and congratulated all the contestants on their performance. The winners were given a massive round of applause and cheers from the ecstatic crowd before the end of the night.
