Mungret Community College is honouring and embracing all aspects of creativity such as music, written word, art and film in their annual Festival of Creativity, from March 27 to March 31, 2023.

The festival celebrates all things creative and encourages students to engage in the creative arts.

The most anticipated part of the festival is the concert. Every year a variety of different acts, like drama performances from the Transition Years, many singing solos and duets, instrumental performances, and a final song at the end from the MCC Choir are performed.

On Wednesday, March 29 and Thursday, March 30, students, parents and teachers can take in multiple drama performances by the Transition year students and a variety of different acts for just €15 per ticket, showcasing MCC’s tremendous creativity and feeling of community in their school.

Visitors attending the concert are advised and encouraged to arrive at 6.30 pm, where they will see many stalls showing an array of the students’ talent, selling things like bracelets, baked goods, and jewellery.

Before, during the intermission, and after the concert, there will be showings of a film and art exhibition. These will have short films and artwork made by students from all years. Some of the films can also be seen at the concert.

Throughout the festival, the famous puppet seen in last year’s event will make a reappearance with a brand new, inclusive design which represents all cultures and ethnicities. This puppet will be on display throughout the festival.

“People developing creative skills also develop problem-solving, creative expression, language and writing skills which all lead to increased self-confidence and self-belief,” Mungret Community College principal Liam O’Mahoney said at last year’s festival.

“Having a festival to celebrate creativity across our school is a great opportunity to display and celebrate all of the music, art, creative writing, film production and presentation skills of our students and staff,” he added.
