Munster rugby players, Paul O’ Connell, Dave Kilcoyne and Conor Murray turned out to support the launch of St Gabriels charity golf classic and were joined at the launch with some of the St. Gabriel’s golf committee members. The Charity Golf Day takes place on 7th and 8th May at Limerick Golf Club.

Munster Rugby Launch St Gabriels Golf ClassicThe format for the Golf Classic is teams of four, two scores to count and full handicaps. Team entry is €400, with meals included. The Tee & Green Sponsorship Fee is €150. Tee times are 9am -12:30pm and 2pm – 4:30pm.

All proceeds from the event will go towards the development of St. Gabriel’s Respite House to be built on a site near Mungret Village.  The purpose built development will provide a much needed facility for families to avail of short-term residential breaks and temporary respite care for their child in a home from home setting. It will also help maintain St. Gabriel’s hydrotherapy pool and the development of a Sensory Playground at St. Gabriel’s School.

Caring for a child with physical or multiple disabilities who has complex medical needs can place huge demands on families and these families require all the support they can get. There is an urgent need for respite and shared care beds in the Limerick region for children with a primary physical and sensory disability, many of whom have life limiting conditions. It is intended that St. Gabriel’s new resource and respite house will address this critical situation by providing flexible and tailored care to meet the individual needs of the child. The respite house will be located on a site between Quins Cross and Mungret village.
