Following on from her first showcase in Limerick, ‘The Beginning of my Girl Life’, Maite Logia has launched her new exhibition in Central Buildings titled ‘Muses and Goddess’ which will showcase from September 1-13. Muses and Goddess introduces us to people who have influenced Maite and helped her become the artist she is.
Maite Logia, who is originally from Spain, has come to Ireland to finish a course on playwriting and filmmaking. She has had an incredibly busy life to date being a photographer in New York, an actor in a horror film, a dancer with madonna for the blond ambition 1989, and so much more.
I Love Limerick chatted to Maite in Central Buildings to discuss her exhibition ‘Muses and Goddess’. “I just love to highlight women in my work. It’s something I’ve always held important to me ever since I was little because I grew up with my six sisters and my mother. Feminism has always been a huge factor in my life.” Said Maite.
There’s no editing when it comes to Maite’s work as she prefers to capture photos with real people and real background. “When I get the perfect combination together, you know it’s magic, it only takes one second. You can take a thousand photographs but you can only choose one that captured the moment that you’re looking for.”
When it comes to creating ideas, Maite has no problem in creating. “I’m different in the sense that I know what I want so I don’t have a problem when it comes to creating. When I’m by myself and I have peace of mind I’m ready for it. Because you see you have the muses they come to you.”
Maite Logia is currently writing a novel that will document her life and she’s hoping to finish that soon. Otherwise she is just working to finish her course in playwriting and film making. She hopes that people who come to see her exhibition will see a ‘happy moment’ of Maite’s experience.
