Anna’s Anchor signs up to new Irish music collaboration Four Corners
Limerick based singer songwriter Marty Ryan from Anna’s Anchor who embarked on an exciting and creative musical adventure known as “The Islands” earlier this year has signed up to his latest musical challenge.
Never Meant Records has brought four young musicians from four corners of Ireland together for a unique music collaborative four way split aptly entitled “Four Corners”. The release containing a song each from Limerick’s Anna’s Anchor, Galway’s Dream State, Wicklow’s Hostile Smiles and Cork’s Míde Houlihan has been giving a pressing onto a limited edition 7” square lathe cut record that has been cut on a 1950’s era machine.
The music collaboration Four Corners is a communal effort from a group of friends that have been brought together through touring the Emerald Isle aiming to pool each other’s resources and have a unique shared experience. All of the acts are inherently different but contain a similar DIY ethic with punk tendencies. The four artists will be going on a tour of the country together this October also to celebrate the occasion.
Anna’s Anchor is the project of Marty Ryan whose honest blend of heart felt lyrics mixed with edgy delayed guitars and soft acoustic undertones was met with acclaim during the Summer of 2015 after Marty completed the islands project which saw him visit 8 remote islands for 8 weeks to play 8 gigs and write, record & release 8 songs.
Annas Anchor has previously self released an EP entitled “Oak Street” which was recorded in Montana, USA in Summer 2014. After touring Europe in December, A.A released a split with James Carroll (U.K) in April 2015 which saw the pair tour the U.K and Ireland.
