Limerick Smarter Travel invites applications for National Bike Week

Would you like grant support to run your own cycling inspired event this June?  The purpose of this grant is to support people who want to run their own cycling inspired event during National Bike Week 2015 to help grow the cycling culture here in Limerick.

Grants available will range from €250 to €500 per application/event.

Examples of previously funded cycling inspired events are listed below or propose a new one, whichever suits best.  Previous events have included:

  • Bicycle Repair Events
  • Bicycle Themed Events
  • Bicycle Rider Picnic and Music Events
  • Bicycle Rider Speed Dating Events
  • Cycle Fashion Show,
  • Cycle Rider Quiz Nights,
  • You decide!

Anyone can apply to the fund as long as you are running it on a ‘not for profit’ basis and you intend to hold your event between the 13th and 21st of June inclusive.

The judges of the event grant will be looking for simple yet creative applications which will help grow the cycling culture here in Limerick.

Richard Lynch, one of the event grant judges, has said: “National Bike Week is a celebration of all that’s great about bicycles and cycling. It has been established to get more people participating in cycling both for transport and recreation. The judges welcome a variety of applications as the intention is to have something for everyone. Best of luck to all involved.”

The deadline for the National Bike Week: Event Grant has been extended to 9am (sharp) Friday the 8th of May. See https://smartertravel.limerick.ie/funding-and-financing/national-bike-week-event-grant. All applications will be assessed by a panel of three independent judges from Limerick. Judging takes place on the 8th of May and successful applicants will be informed on the same day.

This year National Bike Week runs from the 13 – 21 of June, with cycling themed events happening right across the country.
