Alicia has been awarded the prestigious Limerick City Gallery of Art (LCGA) Exhibition Graduate Award. The award consists of an exhibition and associated publications and further opportunities in the LCGA programme and was began by LSAD and LCGA Director Úna McCarthy in 2015.

Frieda has been awarded the National Sculpture Factory (NSF) Graduate Award. The award consists of a studio in the NSF in Cork, along with in-house studio support, mentoring and associated public events. The award was launched by Sculpture & Combined Media staff and the NSF in 2015.

Congratulating the recipients, LIT Dean of Limerick School of Art and Design and Director of Cultural Engagement, Mike Fitzpatrick, highlighted the importance of students having their work exhibited to a wider audience.

“These awards from Limerick City Gallery of Art and the National Sculpture Factory are crucial to the recipients, as is the chance to develop their work and connect with the wider public. They now have the opportunity to expand their networks. Engaging with the public is a vital part of the graduates’ development as artists and creatives and we are delighted for Alicia and Frieda’s achievements.”

Selection for both awards is by student submission of their degree show artworks, which are viewed and selected by Úna McCarthy in LCGA and Programme Manager David O’ Brien in NSF.

Meanwhile LSAD’s 2020 Graduate Showcase continues online at www.lsadgraduates.ie where the end of year work of the 2020 final year students, including the bursary recipients, can be viewed and supported.
