New Music School is set to open in Ballyneety
Sophie Olsthoorn is set to open the doors of a new music school in Ballyneety in September, bringing music tuition available to people of the local and surrounding areas.
Sophie ran a summer camp in July which was highly successful, with amazing feedback from both kids and parents alike.
The Ballyneety Music School will hold classes for Ukulele, Tin-Whistle, Guitar, Piano, Voice/Drama/Theatre, and Music Theory.
Tin-whistle class includes Comhaltas approved tune-book. Music Theory is ABRSM teaching grades, along with ABRSM and RIAM piano. There will be two performances a year.
Their tutors are highly trained professional musicians, which hold the following qualifications: BMus University College Cork, BMus BIMM London College of Music, Diploma London College of Music, ABSRM Grade 8 Music Theory, Arts and Drama Training. Tutors of the school include All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil champions in various instruments, and winners of Classical Feile’s and Fleadh’s in various counties. Some have extensive experience in musical theatre productions held in University Concert Hall Limerick, the Glor Theatre Ennis, and Cork City Hall amongst other venues.
Sophie said: “Our tutors are fantastic musicians with buckets of experience teaching and performing all genres of music. We are incredibly lucky to be working with musicians of such calibre. We are all very excited to open the doors to this new venture, and we are delighted to have community support behind us, and being able to bring music tuition of all genres which is so important for kids – to our local area.”
“Our special Voice/Drama/Musical Theatre class is taught by Isabelle who holds a Diploma from the London College of Music. She is highly trained in singing and acting and is exceptionally good with bringing out the confidence in each child. This class is one hour-long and open to all ages. If your child has an interest in performing this is the one for them!”
The school will run from September to June.
