Paul is a singer-songwriter from Newcastle West
Paul Dunworth, a singer-songwriter from Newcastle West, released his new single called, ‘Robert’s Cove,’ on Friday, December 3.
The new Paul Dunworth single is available on YouTube, with a link to Paul’s Bandcamp where you will have the option to buy the single for just €1.
It tells the story of a small and quaint village situated in the south east of Cork city, a place of peace and tranquility where Paul used to reside, and a place close to his wife’s heart.
The video for the song, shot by Micheál Rowsome, follows Paul’s wife Robin, where she takes the viewers on a walk through the area.
The lyrics and melody do a wonderful job of expressing Paul’s love for the magical place and its inspiring surroundings.
The Newcastle West native has one of the most powerful voices on the Irish contemporary folk scene and his vocal sound on his new track is full of passion and is accompanied by his beautiful melodic guitar.
This new Paul Dunworth single comes out just weeks after the video for his song, ‘The Day the Circus Came to Town,’ which explores the story and circumstances surrounding the birth of his father in August 1947, and the tragedy that unfolded.
As Paul’s EP, ‘Echoes,’ will be released in January, he is taking the time to release his more personal songs that are closer to home.
His previous EP, ‘Through A Forest,’ was released in 2019, and received very positive feedback and favourable reviews, with HotPress Magazine saying, “It is clear Dunworth is comfortable with his music’s direction and he excels in his performance of it. His gritty vocal delivery cuts through the layered folk instrumentation naturally, embedding itself immediately in the listener’s ear.”
Paul studied music at the London Guitar Tech and has shown that he is a versatile guitarist who is comfortable performing in multiple genres. Before the pandemic, he regularly played at venues such as the Shepard’s Bush Empire London, Levis’ in Ballydehob, and De Barra’s in Clonakilty.
The established performer is looking forward to touring in the new year.
