The first-ever ‘Newcastle West Music Trail’, will take place on Saturday 22nd April, and see 10 acts perform throughout the day, in 8 of the town’s most loved, but not always typical, music venues.

The exciting Trail is the first of its kind anywhere in the area, and will see a mix of original artists and covers performers showcase an eclectic range of styles including folk, flamenco, Cuban, blues, rock and classical with the first act performing at 3.15 pm, with 30-minute gigs in each venue, 8 gigs in total.

The Trail will kick off with attendees convening at the Newcastlewest Library, with Emmet Scanlan, Roisin O’Connor and Rob Toomey entertaining festival goers. From there, they will be led to the next venue, with music for the walk, to Sonas Healthfoods where Abe Soare, rising Limerick songwriter, will take over. Other venues taking part include The Red Door Gallery, Mamma Mia Pizzeria, Cronin’s Bar, The G Boutique, and The Central Bar.

The Trail will culminate at Cleary’s Bar at 8.30pm where renowned music of local rock act, The Driven will be performed by The Driven singer Brendan Markham & band at a very special gig in an outdoor marquee.

Organiser and musician, Emmet Scanlan, explained the idea behind the festival, “The quality of music we have in the town alone is phenomenal – captivating original artists, gifted instrumentalists, classically trained tenors…the list goes on. And there is such a love and appreciation of music by people in town, I thought they would really embrace the concept of a Music Trail, and they have. The uptake of tickets has been fantastic, so much so that we only have a limited amount left.”

Tickets are 25 Euro and are available to purchase on the eventbrite website, search Newcastle West Music Trail Festival. Ticket holders will also be treated to treats, snacks, drinks and surprises in each of the venues on the day. A full itinerary for the day, including all performers can be found on ‘Newcastle West Music Trail Festival FB Page’.
